The Imarel Calendar - by T.A. Saunders ©2009 v1.0

The Imarelian Calendar closely follows the Terran one in regards to days of the week, months and seasons. Below each will be listed with the Terran then the Imarelian version of the same day of the week, month etc. The Imarel calendar that's commonly accepted was developed by the Asyndi, then later taught to the Elves when they first came to Imarel, from Ishaela, which was then in turn taught to the Humans. Voraath have their own method of tracking seasons, using animal migrations. It's worth noting that Ishaela has an entirely alien calendar and seasons due to it being a moon, rather than a true planet with different revolutions and orbit.

Special Celestial Events

Fae Moon (Imarel)

Twice a year, roughly around the Miro and Lasa Equinox, Ishaela's orbit is far enough from Imarel, that it appears white, rather than blue. This distance also creates a haze around Ishaela, likening it to the effect of Faerie lights, hence the name.

Kaal's Fury (Imarel & Ishaela)

Once every six years Imarel, Ishaela, the sun, Ka and the Ring of Falling all align in such a way that a solar eclipse occurs, that makes Ka's corona appears a vivid red, rather than yellowish-white. This effect is caused by the haze of reddish dust from Vocoria's destruction, passing through Ishaela at the time of the eclipse.

Sonir Miroa

Visible to any at any time of the year, this constellation is a bit of an anomally. Known as Sonir Miroa or 'Son of Miroa' the gathering of stars was created by a rather spellbinding burst of light originating from Imarel. There are many theories about its origins but none that have been able to be validated. Vaguely resembling a man with a blade held high in the air, the brightest stars were the ones that ran along the 'blade' held, and the twin stars that rested over where a heart would be in a human.

Though this constellation is always etched in the night sky and has come to be a symbol for all heroes and people of imarel to look and seek strength when they were in need of it, it has also become a beacon for sailors and those that plot courses by the heavens. At the original appearance of the constellation motes of light fell, small smooth spheres of unknown matter that lingered and remained after the constellation had taken its place. On the same day each year, 6th of Xandyr, the constellation seems to bright and once more motes fall from the sky, though they are not tangible and fade before touching land, the effect is as though the skies of the worlds of Imarel weep.

Templar's Comet (Imarel & Ishaela)

Once every ten years, Templar's comet crosses Imarel and Ishaela's heavens. Named in remembrance of High Templar Tilasia K'Yuna, an Asyndi Crusader of Jadaia, who had a fondness for stargazing, the comet was mentioned first, in her journal, around 901 BC.  The comet is considered a sign of good luck.

The Blood Sky (Ishaela)

The result of Ishaela passing through the outermost edge of the Ring of Falling, the sky at dusk and dawn appears tinged red, as well as giving a more reddish hue to Imarel in the night sky. This event marks the beginning of the cold season, Yis as well.
