Occultist's Guide to Summoning - by T.A. Saunders ©2015 v1.0

Infernals

Any being summoned from either Xos, the Frozen Dark, Niraeth, the Realm Beyond the Veil or Lyth, the Shadowlands is considered infernal, providing they are of chaotic or in some cases, neutral ethos. For a being to be considered infernal, they must also serve a deity of chaotic or neutral alignment that employs said beings as their agents across the Multiverse. There are four classifications of summoned infernals:

Sub-Demons

These sorts of demons are the least powerful, most only having survived being a larva (which ironically, are also considered in this category). They are the peons of demons, devils and infernal gods and little regard is given to their fate. Imps, quasits and frigid spirits are examples of sub-demons and never have names of their own, but can sometimes have a class path. (Demonologists of newbie chronicles will only be able to summon this sort of infernal being, unless otherwise specified by an op).

Demons

Demons make up the bulk of the infernal armies of Xos and Niraeth. They come in all manner of shape and form and will almost always have a class path. Though, less likely is the possibility that they will be a paragon in a class path, or dual-classed. Rarer still are demons with names of their own, but it can happen. Succubi, Infernal Crawlers, nameless Blade-Witches and Niraethian Abominations are all examples of demons. (Demons can be summoned by Demonologists of mid-range chronicles, or newbie chronicles if an exceptional Research roll is made, with op discretion).

Exarch

This breed of infernal are amongst the most powerful sort, controlling lesser sorts of infernals through brutality, guile and manipulation. They are significantly more difficult to summon and much more difficult to control, often requiring blood sacrifice and hazardous pacts to ensure compliance. While forcing such an infernal creature to do one's bidding is possible, it is strongly ill-advised to do so, as they are more valued than most of their ilk. They will always have names of their own, and be either paragon in their class path, or be dual-classed. Named Blade-Witches, Harbingers and Devils are examples of Exarchs. (Exarch class infernals can only be summoned by Demonologists of high end chronicles or mid-range chronicles if an exceptional Research roll is made, with op discretion).

Archfiend

The strongest type of infernal, these beings are always named, are always either dual-classed or a paragon in their chosen profession, and will be exceedingly well-armed with armor, weapons and magic of the highest caliber, possibly artifact-rated. Under no circumstances should the arrival of an Archfiend class infernal be taken lightly, as they have direct communication with their deity. It is also highly ill-advised to attempt to force one into servitude, unless one is very willing to incur the wrath of the deity or demon lord they represent. Helids, Heralds and Grim Destroyers are examples of Archfiend class infernals. (Archfiends can only be summoned by Demonologists of high end chronicles, with an exceptional Research roll).
