Kingdom of Moonfall
(Formerly the Grand Duchy of Brookshire)

Luisellia

Grand Ossuary

The Grand Ossuary of Luisellia is one of the greatest open-mysteries of the Kingdom of Moonfall. It is a vast tunnel system that runs under the entire city, connecting the wards inside of the city to one another via subterranean pathways. The ossuary’s catacombs are fairly uniform, especially compared to the rest of the city, and feature a number of different styles of sarcophagus, coffin, skull-rack, mausoleum, and charnel house. While less common among the upper-classes, many Luisellians use the ossuary as a quick way around the city. Law enforcement officials and crusaders discourage the practice, since the lowest levels of the ossuary have not been blessed in many generations, and some felons and criminals have been known to seek sanctuary in the tunnels. Rumors persist that something ancient is buried deep in the ossuary, or even under it, but despite these rumors, new bodies are interred in the ossuary daily.

  • Grand Ossuary Catacombs: The tunnels containing the skeletons of generations of dead. The top level is still in use, but the deeper levels have long been abandoned to the undead that prowl its darkened mazes. Legend has it that the Ossuary was, long ago, built atop something else, but no one has ever solved that particular riddle.

  • Cremation Kilns: For those in Luisellia that prefer cremation, the cremation kilns are tended underground by adherents of Kaal and Nahzaheer working in conjunction. These unique holy spaces often serve as a neutral spot for feuding parties to work out their differences.

  • Exile’s Respite: In the depths of the catacombs, the city’s criminal elements have carved out a safe space for themselves. This spot, known as Exile’s Respite, is far from the watchful eye of the guard. Anything goes here, though it is mostly populated by murderers, fraudsters, and exiles looking to rest their head on stone for the night.
